Book Review: They Will Kill You Next by Tim Kizer

Updated: Nov 11

They Will Kill You Next is a dialogue-heavy thriller that offers a fast-paced reading experience but ultimately struggles with deeper execution. While the premise is compelling and the story is packed with twists and turns, its reliance on dialogue and missed narrative opportunities prevent it from reaching its full potential.

The fast pace is one of the book’s defining features, driven almost entirely by its dialogue. This makes it easy to read and keeps the momentum high, but it also creates problems. At times, it was difficult to tell who was speaking, as there was so little narrative to anchor the conversations. This lack of balance between dialogue and description occasionally made the story feel disjointed. Despite these issues, the twists and turns throughout the plot were a highlight, keeping the suspense alive and engaging for most of the story.
